In August the Global Frontier fund share price declined 0.23% whereas the benchmark index rose 3.07% over the same period, both measured in euro and based on total return. This discrepancy can be explained by the year-to-date-rally in Argentina (+30.12%) and Kuwait (+11.81%). These countries make up 40% of the benchmark index, which is therefore rather concentrated. The fund has almost no weighting in these countries as there are hardly any stocks that comply with our (dividend) selection model.

Last month’s key indicator was the announcement of the economic growth. Both Brazil, China, India and Japan announced growth for the second quarter of this year. Growth in Japan was a positive surprise, while growth in India slightly faded. In addition, China was the stable factor and Brazil is trying to climb out of an economic trough very carefully. In the past month, the share price of the Africa fund has increased 3.15%. The benchmark index rose 1.39% over the same period, both measured in euro on the basis of total return. On balance the Asset under Management (AuM) of the fund increased. The number of outstanding shares increased by 12,590 units to 601,811 shares and the fund's AuM increased to 8.2 million euro.
